They supervise the Company and are responsible for ensuring the community is fully involved in its activities and development.
In addition to appointing the Directors to manage the Company on a day to day basis, the Members approve the Business Plan and all major policy decisions.
Stefano Cuomo is the Managing Director of Macknade Fine Foods. The business is deeply rooted in family heritage with Stefano's family running a farm at Macknade for six generations, since 1847. As a leading UK Food Hall with 170 years of family history, Macknade Fine Foods is a provenance rich & emotive alternative to supermarket shopping.
John is a retired international Reinsurance underwriter at Lloyds of London and Bermuda. He moved to Faversham in 1970 and now co owns "The Old Pharmacy" with his wife Vanessa which now houses the Yarn Dispensary wool shop managed by Gillian Ely.
Robin is IT Operations Manager for Ashford Borough Council where he has worked for 27 years. He has lived all his life in Faversham, where he also attended school and now lives with his wife and 2 sons. Robin leads and supports on telecoms and IT as well as advising on procurement/building issues.
Mick, a retired painter and decorator, is an ex-counsellor of Faversham Town Council and was Mayor in 2005 and 2006. He is involved in numerous community projects and charities locally. For the Alexander Centre he provides valuable advice on building/refurbishment projects and volunteers regularly to be Santa for our Christmas grotto
Martyn is a Partner at Chavereys Chartered Accountants and provides financial and accountancy advice and guidance
Retired Government Officer and Faversham resident. Ken is also an active member of the Alexander Centre CIC and provides guidance particularly in the areas of Health and Safety, security and general building management. He also provides practical hands-on support by maintaining the garden
Katie, another founding member of the Company, is the Regional Security Director (EMEA) for Time Warner. Prior to this she spent 8 years in the British Army, working across the intelligence disciplines worldwide. She moved with her family to Faversham 9 years ago. She leads on events and HR as well as advising on management and security issues
Jackie is the ex-town clerk of Faversham Town Council and an OBE who has many years of experience in the civil service
Hilary, one of the founding members of the Company is a retired retailer having been MD of several high street fashion chains including Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins and Warehouse. She served 5 years as pro bono CEO of the British Fashion Council, reviving the fortunes of London Fashion Week for which she was awarded an OBE in January 2009. She is a non-executive Director of Shaftesbury PLC, a FTSE 250 property company; ASOS, the global online fashion retailer; London and Partners, the official promotional agency of the Mayor of London; and Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer and Faversham’s largest employer
Graham is a civil engineer by profession who has spent his career in the water industry in a number of different companies. He has wide boardroom experience and has been a chairman of private companies and of voluntary organisations. He has lived with his wife in Faversham since 1969. He became involved with The Alexander Centre after volunteering with the Magna Carta Rediscovered Exhibition in 2015
Alexandra is an author, blogger and local resident. She has been pivotal on the development of the website and continues to lead on all written publicity and other material. She also provides the Trust’s social media presence
The Directors are responsible for ensuring the Company meets its statutory and other legal obligations. These include ensuring the proper management of the Company’s finances and that it operates in accordance with its founding Constitution; in particular the commitment to benefit the community of Faversham and its surrounding villages. Graham Setterfield took over the chairmanship of the Board of Directors from Hilary Riva in July 2016. The other Directors are Hilary Riva, Kathryn Forsyth, John Cackett and Stefano Cuomo.
